Nadia and Carol
Nadia Comaneci (Gheorghe Gheorghiu Dej Now Onesti) Romanian Gymnast born November 12, 1961. She was the first Romanian to be awarded a score of 10 at the Olympic contest. Bela Karolyi, later Romanian Gymnastics Coach discovered Comaneci at just 6 years old. The first time she competed was at the national junior championships in where she placed 13th in the year 1969. In the year 1970, she took home the title. At her first international event in 1972 at a pre-Olympic Junior event for countries of the communist bloc she was awarded three gold medals. Then in 1973 and 1974 she became an the all-around junior champion. When she competed for the first time as a senior, in 1975 she beat out Russian Lyudmila Turishcheva who was a five-time European champion, winning four gold medals as well as one silver. She was the first woman to perform a reverse double salo on the uneven parallel bar when she won the American Cup, New York City 1976. Carol Wayne.........................Carol Wayne was an American film and TV actor best recognized for portraying Art Fern's Tea-Time Movie Lady on The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson. Her journey in the entertainment industry began during her teens when she started skating figure with her younger twin sister Nina Wayne as part of the traveling entertainment shows that were known as Ice Capades. Carol Marie Wayne was born on the 6th of September 1942 in Chicago Illinois US. Carol started her professional career as an entertainer when she was in her teenage years. As a young girl, she began performing as a figure skating performer with Nina Wayne in the travelling entertainment program Ice Capades. They featured staged ice skating performance.
